All the guys above, Luke Mason and everyone else around here.

Where have you traveled to bodyboard?
All over Indo, up and down the east coast of Australia, South OZ and Victoria

What is your favorite bodyboard spot?
Pretty hard to choose, but Edwards, Gassies, or anyone of the 1000 bullshit waves we have around here.

What board(s) do you ride?
HB team spec with about 30 Core store stamps on it, thanks to Moot using it as the test board for the stamp press.

Prone or DK? If both, how much of each?
Prone, DK is dead!! haha na pretty much 100% prone, dk on the rare occasion

Have you ever competed?
Never been in a comp. I don’t really want to because I’ll probably bomb out and come last haha.

Do you have any sponsors? Nil

What’s your training regime like?
I surf most days, train hard on a Friday and Saturday night…benching about 30 schooners and a pack of smokes, with everyone else that loves to get keep fit too. haha

What bodyboard goals do you have?
Travel more, see new places, and bodyboard as long as my bent spine allows me.

Where do you see bodyboarding going in the future?
Bigger moves in bigger waves. The shit guys are doing now is pretty crazy its hard to think it will all get bigger and better.

What riders influenced your bodyboarding?
The older AV generation, all my mates I surf with now and of coarse all the big wigs like Hardy, Ben and Skipp.

Where’s your next destination?
Nothing planned but I really want to go to Puerto and Phillipines, but more likely it’ll be somewhere in Australia like South Australia.

Any last words of advice or shout outs?
The many prime ministers for funding my surf travel over the years, and to K Smithers for letting me have so many “sick days” even though he knew the surf was pumping himself. SCAFFFORLYFE.. haha. Big hello to all my friends, love you all especially my lovely girlfriend Daisy. And lastly, Thanks to Jordan Godley & Ian Osterloh for all the epic photos. Let the good times roll…

A Hawaii Holiday

When Alex Verharst, an Orange County photographer and cinematographer, was asked to shoot for a couple of his friends in Hawaii he decided to hop on the opportunity and jet set! A round-trip ticket paid for, why wouldn’t you jump on a plane to Hawaii!?

I have met Alex a few times at local contests and have seen his work progress insanely over the past couple years. So I wanted to share with 71 Mag some work of up-and-coming Cali guys doing some good in the water.

Your personal favorite shot that has been published so far and which publication was it in:	BP Pipe barrel in Movement issue 32. Mainly because it was shot on my 21st birthday and that whole day was fucking rad.
Tools of the trade:	Canon 40d Body 50 1.4, 70-200 2.8 IS, Tokina fish, Canon 10-22, Aquatech Housing And other bits and pieces
What Inspires you to keep shooting:	Other photographers and my dreams. Ben Lee also from the Sunnicoast and I have a bit of rivalry going on I think. He definitly pushes me.

Equipment	Canon 50d, 100-400, 60 macro
Insirations	The thought of how much time and money I have put into it haha… na I guess just other peoples shots get me frothing and also nailing a good shot (or what you think is at the time).

Favourite Rider/s to work with:	Damien Martin because he gives a massive grin when he gets a good wave and Luke Birch because he a crazy man pulls into any Puerto freight train he could find. He also will come in from any session grumpy for no reason.
Favourite Location	When I am at home I cannot go past South Narrabeen, go there whenever there is waves with local standup Timmy Taplin and just shoot fisheye for fun. Mexico was probably my favorite location to shoot because in the five weeks I was there, I think there was 3 days I did not have sick waves. Plus Aqua Luna was probably the sickest hotel I have ever stayed at. Clive rocks. Plus Puerto was an insane setup.
Favourite Shot	Favorite shot would probably be a shot of Birchy from a trip to Puerto Escondido in 2009. Birchy had not been in the water for like 6 months and then paddled out and his second wave of the session was a bomb and he flew down the face and got chewed up. It was probably one the biggest waves I had seen until this year in Hawaii. I think he came in complaining after that session as well…It was run in Movement Annual last year. td>
Equipment	Canon 40d, 70-200mm f/4, 50mm f/1.8, 17-40mm f/4, 100mm f/2, fisheye and spl housing for my 40d.
Insirations	Probably the fact that I am still pretty young so I think I have heaps to improve and a lot of time to get the shots that I want to achieve not only in surf related photos but also life style and studio work.td>

Favourite Rider/s to work with:	Anyone really who can rip, but if I had to say id say Rocket Klien, Jared Brown, Jeremy Wright, Jake Koehler, Dillon Fowler, and many more.
Favourite Location	well in the water of coarse. basically in the OC, and during the winter upper OC and summer in the lower OC.
Favourite Shot	Haha favorite shot gosh where do i start …..100 favorite shots. Each picture is unique and there for the best. tho wen i do think of the best shot i think of a picture i got of an unknown surfer in the winter at a secret break. trying to line myself up with the surfers ll day in the strong currant moving back and forth and was lucky enough to get a stand up green barrel of the surfer.td>
Equipment	For the land lovers Nikon D100, fisheye, 24-120mm, 55-200mm, and a speed flash. For the water I use a Canon Powershot A540 with the Canon housing made for it, yah its a point and shoot, but it has all the settings like a dlsr would like manual, aperture, tv, etc. savin up for that housing for the D100
Insirations	Family, friends, and when people say wow thast an awesome picture. Other pictures from other great photographers. Just being in the ocean.

Favourite Riders	I wouldn’t go as far as saying I work with him, but Ben Player is by far the most photogenic rider that’s been in front of my lens. Also Jase Finlay, he’s always a standout at every session.
