Years Shooting I started taking my photography seriously 3 years ago.
Favourite Riders I enjoy shooting all the underground riders around Southern California.

It’s tough for me to pick a favorite because there’s so much talent around
here, both old and new school.
Favourite Location I really enjoy shooting my homebreak in Los Angeles County. Although it’s not world class, it’s fun to shoot with good friends when the waves are firing. However, my favorite location to shoot would be Pipe (go figure). Being that Pipe attracts top-tier talent from around the world, you can always expect to shoot some keepers when the conditions line up.
Favourite Shot My personal favorite shot is actually of a standup surfer named Pat Weber, a local legend at my homebreak. The shot was selected on Surfline.com through the user-submitted photo contest as the grand prize winner and won me a free trip to the North Shore for a week.
Equipment All CANON
Inspirations Learning and progressing. And of course, waking up to good lighting and hollow waves.

Favourite Shot Simon Ormerod in Puerto Escondido. It was published along with a personal
interview on Spongewars.com. Also I got an epic shot of Adam Granger in a nice big nugget from Puerto Escondido as well, which was actually published in Three Sixty Magazine in the UK.

Favourite Riders Alex Bunting is always fun to work with because he knows what I need.
Favourite Location I like Tahiti, Hawaii or around home. Wherever its 6ft offshore and uncrowded and not raining as well. Semi cancels out those other 3 locations.
Favourite Shot I loved this shot of Bunting from Shipsterns in Tasmania may 2005. It was a really big day with tow surfers everywhere. I was on their camera boat with some other photogs and video guys and had to sit there and listen to them all writing off ‘boogers’ saying stuff like ‘fucking drown booger!!!’ Then this one came in and Bunting put his head down and went. The whole boat went crazy hooting and screaming asking me who he was etc. They all nearly blew their loads over it and started to admit that they used to bodyboard and stuff. I love the photo because it changed the view of some haters and alot of other people within bodyboarding and surfing loved that photo too. Tom Bunting got a huge print for Al for Christmas and it hangs proudly in the living room at Alex’ Bondi cock pit.

Inspirations I like getting a good shot that people like. I like seeing my photo published in a mag. I like most when the guy in the photo is happy with what we got. I get inspired by perfect conditions and a good crew to work with.
Shoutouts I’d like to thank the people who I work with. The magazine editors from around the world and my friends from home who spend many hours on the road searching for fun waves who sleep the whole time I’m driving. My girlfriend Holly for not divorcing me after every 2am departure!

Favourite Riders I rarely shoot with riders, I prefer to focus on working empty wave shots.
I’ve shot with Liam O’keefe a few times and he’s great to work with. Liam’s
always as keen as anything to get out in the water and he’s got some freakishly
good skills on the knee which makes him easy to shoot.
Favourite Location The Box. That wave scares the shit out of me but it’s definitly one of
the most exciting places to shoot.

Inspirations Other photographers. If i see an epic shot taken by another photographer,
i instantly want to try and take a better one myself. It’s not really a
competitive thing. Just keeping that shot in the back of my mind gives me
a standard to work towards and trying to reach that goal is what keeps me
amped.
Shoutouts Joe Jordanoff: Joe was the first pro rider that ever acknowledged me out
in the surf. I did my first shoot with him out at The Box where i saw the
biggest, heaviest waves i’d ever seen. That shoot got me hooked and it still
gets me amped today. If Joe hadn’t gone out of his way to speak to me and
organise that shoot i know my photography would have progressed a hell of
a lot slower.

Years Shooting Been shooting for the mags for around 6 years but picked up my first camera around 10 years ago.
Favourite Riders Um, I’d have to say Matt Lackey, His a good mate and I love watching him surf, he is a freak when you give him a big section. I love shooting BP and Winny whenever I get the chance aswell….every time you shoot them you are pretty much guaranteed good shots.
Favourite Location At home I love shooting froggies but I’d have to say the best place I have ever shot, and most probably ever will shoot is the Great Barrier Reef….amazing place and not another surfer within 100km.
Favourite Shot For obvious reasons the cover of the 2005 Riptide Photo Annual would have to be a favorite of mine but I’d say the shot of the bomie out the front my mum’s place which was run in both Riptide 143 and Surfing Life 250….kind of hard question…

Insirations Money, haha nah. I do consider photography to be main job so I treat it like a job but looking at other photographers (TM, Ted, Turoy, Toinz, Sheildys) shoot amazing photo’s really makes me want to try harder to get shots that i’m happy with.
